Multiple Dragons

If you have more than one dragon they will likely house together while young but may have to be separated as they mature. Dragons are territorial by nature and social hierarchies will form that will contribute to one dragon assuming the dominant role. Dominant dragons will tend to be first to eat, occupy the prime basking areas and possibly display more aggressive behaviors. When housing more than one dragon together their behaviors as well as growth rates should be closely monitored. Females will often house together with little issue but as stated, should be monitored to ensure their continuing health. As a rule, males should not be housed together due to the dominance issue and the potential to injure each other in the process of establishing it. Males and females can often be housed together with little problem and an additional female is often acceptable. When housing pairs or more together a significantly larger enclosure is necessary and there is the obvious potential to breed. Possible implications of this combination should be seriously considered. We currently house adult males and females together for breeding purposes only.
